Anna Resurget

[From Todd: This writing assignment was based on real events of Anna’s imagination.  Her night fears were a regular event, but until I read this story I did not know that they ran as deep as they apparently did.  It was always difficult dealing with Anna’s mixture of imagination and reality.  Fortunately, she knew to whom she could always run, even when her Daddy would not listen to her.]

One dark night I awoke.  I could hear the door creak open and I could almost see the tip of a gun pointed at me.  I rolled over and tried not to think about it.  I could feel someone with a knife poised, ready to kill.  Finally I couldn’t take it.  I started running, picturing deadly black widows going to sting my feet as I ran.  I banged on my parent’s door, but they were engrossed in a horror movie:  MONK.  I ran back to my room.  I prayed.  Instantly sleep came.  I woke in the morning.  SAFE!

One day I and my pet dog, Kookaburra, went out to our woods.  I wore jeans, my camouflage hat, a back pack, and my trusty electricity powered flashlight that doesn’t work.  It was beautiful out there with larks chirping and robins poking thier heads out of their nests and peeping.  I saw rabbits, ducks, and squirrels, but Kookaburra seemed to be worried.  Just then a huge imaginary lion jumped out and ate me up.  Then I woke up in my own bedroom.  It was all a DREAM!

Anna and Foxy

My oldest cat’s name is Foxy.  Foxy is a short-haired fat cat with an orange back and white stomach that makes him look like a pumpkin.  He always wears a grumpy face and can be stubborn sometimes, but despite all this, Foxy is a treasure and a sweetheart, even though he weighs 21 1/2 pounds. 

Foxy sleeps in my room all the time and climbs up the back of my door, too.  Although Foxy can be a nuisance, once he came up and began licking my face.  Despite his faults, I love Foxy very much.

I knew it was going to be an unusual day when I saw my millipede, George, tap dancing.  I knew it was going to be an unusual day when I saw my cat, Foxy, jumping up and down in the chimney with a Santa Claus hat on.  Why are all these things happening?  Why is out hamster, Plumpy, tobogganing?  Why is my cat, Trilby, cooking breakfast down stairs?  I don’t know.  I think I’ll go flying and think about it.

The land that I love is Indonesia.  Indonesia is located on the far right of the map and is close to New Zealand.  It is made out of 200 islands.  The capital of Indonesia is Jakarta.

I love Indonesia because it is very beautiful.  It has very beautiful mountains, too.  That is what I like about Indonesia.

On Monday, my brother and I went to the candy store.  It had so much candy.  There were jellybeans, chocolate bars, marshmallows, licorice, and a lot of other candys.  My brother and I could pick out a penny’s worth of three things.  I picked out marshmallows, chocolate bars, and Reese’s Pieces.  My brother picked out jellybeans, lollipops, and jawbreakers.  I like candy.  I like candy stores.  I think they’re fun.  Don’t you?

My favorite Bible hero is David.  David was a very good shepherd.  If a bear attacked his flock David was always there to protect his sheep.

Once he protected the children of Israel by killing a very dangerous giant called Goliath.  Later he became king.  I think he deserved it.  Don’t you?

My family and I went to the park.  There were two girls selling lemonade for 25 cents.  Two girls were hugging and they were going to have a picnic.  Two boys are riding bicycles.  There is a boy playing catch with his dog.  He is throwing the frisbee at the dog.  The dog caught it!  My family and I played frisbee too, until it was time to go.  I like going to the park.  Do you?

My best friend is Jesus.  Jesus and I like to talk to each other at night.  He never gets mad at me.  He likes to hear me sing “In the Garden,” so I will sing it to him at night.

Another thing I like about Jesus is that we both like to beat up the same person, Satan.

Jesus never even leaves my side.

I think that I have the best person in the world as my friend.

This summer I went to Disneyland with my family.  We went on a lot of rides.  Grandma Deloris and Papa Dick went with us too.  They did not go with us on many of the rides because they are old and broken.  We also went to California Adventure for a day.  The second day we went to Disneyland.  That is the second time I have been to Disneyland.  I had a lot of fun while I was there.
